Apples and Oranges!
Well Apple has decided to manufacture a string of new iPods! Whether you have the Nano, Shuffle or the Touch... You're shit out of luck, because the new models are of much higher quality. Just like everything else in this electronic age, your devices go out of date within a year and are then updated to be better, stronger, faster and more awesome! (Sometimes.)
The new iPod Touchs have small but very important upgrades. They are now upgraded to have the same new features as the iPhone 4 without the problem of it being a phone. The new Facetime (video chatting from device to device) is included on this iPod, along with a HD 720p video camera on the back which can also take photos. It is a pretty nifty upgrade... But the consumers have already been asking for it for 3 generations! The new iPod touch also has the new Retina display (960 by 640 pixels, which is 326 pixels per inch) that the iPhone has, which really does make a beautiful display. The new A4 processor provides a longer battery life and the ability for more advanced games. There are some new motion features too; a three-axis gyroscope, which is a device used for maintaining orientation from angular momentum. Gyroscope. All in all, these new iPods are pretty cool, but they'll also set you back $223.99 for the 8 GB model and a harsh $288.99 for the 32 GB model.
The new iPod Nanos are interesting. They've taken the touch screen of their big sister(?) iPod Touch; they are absolutely tiny though! These new mini-iPods also have a built in FM radio for all of you who want to listen to commercials. I'm not 100% if this is an improvement or not.. No video playback? No video camera? Didn't that other new Nano come out like 3 months ago?
As for the Shuffle. They are back to the little squares again, with solid buttons this time! Nothing else much, other than Voice Over which tells you the name of your song in.. Any language you want to hear it in? Sounds useful.
The new generation of iPods holds great promise, yet I feel cheated. Couldn't all of these features have been included in the old generation, instead of just slapped on to a new iPod with a new hefty price tag?
